In case you did not manage to score an Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 during the holidays, January might be the perfect time to purchase one for yourself.  Amazon is willing to take $50 of the list price of any variation of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9.  There are two main caveats that need to be addressed right away.  One, the user needs an active Prime account.  Two, the user must be a student, and this offer does include those who redeem the six month free trial of Amazon Prime.

All in all, it sounds like a great promotions for students who have Prime accounts or are willing to sign up for one simply to take advantage of this promotion.  Amazon will continue to run the offer throughout January.

The 16GB WiFi only Kindle Fire HD 8.9 begins at $299, however, after the $50 discount it is only $249.  Other 4G LTE variations are similarly discounted.
