Even though the LG Optimus G recently launched in many markets across the globe, recent rumors seem to indicate that LG may be preparing its successor already. The rumored smartphone is aptly named the LG Optimus G2 and could come to market as soon as May 2013. If the time frame pans out, then LG will likely introduce the Optimus G2 to the masses by Mobile World Congress in early 2013.
According to the rumor from a Korean news site, the Optimus G2 will offer a 5 inch 1080p resolution display, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, 2GHz quad-core processor, and 4G LTE support. Of course, the technology is cutting edge and software up to date, as should be present in any flagship smartphone. Before the Optimus G2 can even become official with these specs, we need Google to introduce Android 5.0.
Even if the May 2013 time frame doesn’t come to fruition, I like LG’s chances of launching such a device perhaps in June or July. If the LG Optimus G exceeds LG’s expectations, then there is certainly no reason not to launch a successor.
