At the Everything Everywhere 4G launch event, Samsung went on the record to state that Android 4.1 will roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S III starting in October. The 4G version of the Galaxy S III in the UK will launch with Jelly Bean pre-loaded.
While we don’t have a specific target date in October, we do believe Samsung will make good on its word. However, the first wave of Jelly Bean will hit SIM-free devices first. The caveat to purchasing subsidized Galaxy S III devices means the Android 4.1 update will be subject to carrier testing before being pushed to the handsets.
It is also worth mentioning that Samsung made this statement in the UK so it’s hard to tell if the same time frame applies to the American version of the Galaxy S III. In any event, October is only a few weeks away and we’re hoping to see Android 4.1 rolled out to Galaxy S III devices across the globe.
