Need more shared data on Verizon? Contact customer service

Most consumers know about Verizon’s Share Everything data plans, but not everyone knows the shared data extends far beyond the publicized 10GB all the way up to 20GB.  When originally announced by Verizon, the only data tiers revealed to the public were 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, and 10GB.  However, according to Brenda Raney, spokeswoman for Verizon, the carrier actually offers 12GB, 14GB, 16GB, 18GB, and 20GB options.

In order to add a higher data tier onto your Shared Everything plan, you must simply contact customer service through the phone or ask for it in the store.  While AT&T’s Mobile Share plan clearly mentions each data option available, from 1GB to 20GB, Verizon’s website only mentions up to 10GB.  The reasoning here, according to Raney, is that most customers use less than 2GB of data per month, so many would not even need 20GB.  With this in mind, Verizon is able to present the new plans in a clear and concise manner by only offering six data options.

In terms of pricing, the 12GB option costs $110, 14GB costs $120, 16GB costs $130, 18GB costs $140, and 20 costs $150.  By comparison, AT&T offers 20GB of data for $200, but each smartphone line costs $30 at that point on AT&T, whereas it remains $40 on Verizon.

We’re glad to see Verizon offer higher data buckets for families who need more data without having to pay for overages.  Be sure to contact your local Verizon store or call customer service to take advantage of data greater than 10GB.
