In an effort to bolster travel search results and information, Google acquired Frommer’s from John Wiley & Sons, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report. For an undisclosed price and terms, Google will soon have the rights related to Frommer’s. About a year ago, Google acquired Zagat and with the recent acquisition of Frommer’s, Google puts itself in a good position to provide hotels, attractions, and resorts all over the world to consumers.
There is no word on whether Google will continue to publish the well established print Frommer’s tour guide books or continue its online presence. What is known, however, is that Google’s Search and Maps will soon include valuable information from Frommer’s detailing many tourist attractions.
I personally look forward to see how well Google can integration Frommer’s information into its pre-existing products in order to improve the travel experience for all.
