The story of the HTC EVO 4G LTE sure is an interesting one. It was announced by Sprint and HTC and was accepted fairly well by the public and everything seemed smooth sailing through the pre-order period held by Sprint and Best Buy. Seemingly out of nowhere, the EVO 4G LTE and the One X for AT&T were held up at customs requiring a further ITC investigation as a result of violating a patent held by Apple. HTC said the issue was moot since it had since been resolved. In any event, Best Buy began emailing their customers who pre-ordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE informing them that it would begin shipping on May 23, and it looks like they were on the right track.
Today, Sprint officially posted an announcement on its Announcement Blog page proclaiming the highly anticipated smartphone would arrive “on or around Thursday, May 24″ to those who pre-ordered with Sprint. I’m not sure if this will hold up for those who pre-ordered with Best Buy, unfortunately. The national launch date is still up in the air, at this point, as I suspect the full shipment is still not cleared to go.
Hopefully, we will have further word from Sprint guaranteeing a final launch date for the EVO 4G LTE, but at least those who pre-ordered the smartphone will have it by May 24…hopefully.
