Today, we have some good news for HTC Amaze 4G owners on T-Mobile who are anxiously awaiting to receive Android 4.0.  The OTA update for Android 4.0.3 is ready to go and users should begin to see their phone registering an update that is available to download and install.  In case your Amaze is not yet receiving the OTA update, you can always manually request it through the settings page.

The Android 4.0 update for the Amaze 4G brings about several new features and improvements to make the overall user experience on the device better with Ice Cream Sandwich.  The new features and improvements are as follows:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • Sense 3.6
  • System bar enhancements to easily view recent apps.
  • Re-sizeable widgets
  • Lock screen actions including pull down notifications and adjust volume while device is locked.
  • Data usage controls.
  • Face Unlock
  • Home screen folders
  • Improved battery life
  • Improved text input and spell checking
  • Improved menu structure

In case you do not wish to wait for the OTA update to hit your phone, simply proceed to the settings page -> About Phone -> HTC Software Updates -> Check now.  Following these steps should prompt your Amaze to ping HTC servers and see if there is an update available.  As always, users running a custom ROM will not be eligible to download and install the official HTC Android 4.0 upgrade.
