While Apple’s iPads are still top dogs in the tablet market these days, Android-based slates have become contenders mostly due to an innovative and unique product. I’m talking about the Asus Transformer, the first tablet to have come with a fully functional keyboard docking station.

And if you weren’t convinced of Transformer’s real success, you need to take a quick look at today’s tablet market and see how many gadgets come these days with optional docks. One of these is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, which is offered today by Best Buy at a very special price.

Well, the tablet’s price is not itself special, but what is special is that the device comes with a free included keyboard dock. That’s right, you can now pick up the Galaxy Tab 8.9 with a very nice keyboard dock for just 349.99 dollars. You get free shipping and the tablet is new, not refurbished, so all in all it’s pretty difficult to say no to such a sweet deal if you are on the hunt for a functional and snappy tablet capable of turning into a netbook in a matter of seconds.

Sure, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 doesn’t exactly come with the greatest tech specs out there, but looking at its brand new price it should deliver more than enough performance wise. The 9-incher sports a very nice 1280 x 800 pixels resolution screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.

Other features include 1 GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, as well as 16 GB of on-board memory and dual 3 MP/2 MP cameras. In terms of software, Samsung’s slate still runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb, but it should be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich sometime during summer, according to a report from last December.

As far as the keyboard dock goes, this is certainly not as functional and cool as the one manufactured by Asus for the Transformer, but it still should do its job fairly nice. The keys look comfortable and well-sized, the gizmo itself is not extremely bulky or heavy and you also get a 3.5 mm stereo audio output for connecting external speakers to the tablet/netbook.

This is a pretty nice deal, at least in my book, so if you want to take advantage of the offer, click the source link below. There are no details on how much will the deal run for, so I would hurry up if I were you right now.
