Even though we figured a while back that the MWC event held in Barcelona last week would clarify a few things in the smartphone market and would leave us with more confirmations than rumors and leaks, we are still deep in the land of ‘’could’’, ‘’might’’ and ‘’should’’.
According to a leak picked up by the guys at Droid-Life a few minutes ago, Verizon is closing in on three smartphone releases that should interest all you Android geeks out there.
First up, in chronological order, there’s the LG Lucid 4G, formerly known as Cayman, set to be made available on March 29. The Lucid was already leaked out yesterday, though, so this is not actually news. On the other hand, as one of our readers, Florin Popovici from PocketDroid.net, pointed out earlier, the LGLucid 4G might actually be the same F160L we saw benchmarked a few hours ago. If that’s the case, this is a clearly a smartphone to watch for, as it will probably be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is no new gadget, but up until now we only had the possibility of getting one of the great Android-based smartphones ever with 32 GB of on-board storage. If today’s leak proves trustworthy, a 16 GB version of the Nexus will be hitting Verizon’s shelves on April 5. Both the gadget’s black and white model should be made available with reduced internal memory and the price might be cut to around 199 dollars on contract.
Finally, the HTC Droid Incredible 3 4G is set to hit the US market on April 26, and this might be the most interesting part of our article today. The Droid Incredible 2 has not exactly been an HTC hit in 2011, running Android 2.2 Froyo upon its release and featuring a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, which is why nobody really expected a follower.
However, this Droid Incredible 3 might actually be a big deal and is thought to be the same Fireball which gained Wi-Fi certification about two weeks ago. For those of you who don’t remember what the Fireball is rumored to bring to the table, let’s just say that it should sport a full HD 4.3-inch screen and feature a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and, of course, LTE connectivity.
