If you are a technology enthusiast and you want to get yourself a strong and snappy 10-inch Android tablet these days, you have to spend at least 350-400 dollars. However, if you hurry up and get your budget in order, you can take advantage of a special offer available today on, which offers the great Toshiba Thrive for just $279.99.

While this is a refurbished model of the 10-incher, the Thrive comes with a 90-day warranty from Toshiba, meaning that there’s no chance you will get a faulty or raggedy gadget which will refuse to power up once you take it out of the box.

As I already mentioned, the special offer is available only today and if I had the money to get it, I would hurry up, because there’s a good chance that the nice guys at would have their supplies exhausted before long. However, I myself have been naughty this holiday season and have overspent, so I can just enjoy the satisfaction of recommending you what looks like a pretty good deal…

The Thrive, which starts at around 400 dollars on most of the major online stores, runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb and is powered by an already standard 1 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. The 10-incher sports a very nice capacitive multi-touch screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and features 1 GB of RAM, as well as two capable cameras (a 5.0 MPx rear-facing shooter with auto-focus and 720p video capture and a 2.0 Mpx webcam with microphone).

While the Toshiba Thrive isn’t exactly the slimmest tablet around the block, it does come with a wide range of ports and connectivity options, including a full-size HDMI socket, a full-size SD card slot, a mini USB 2.0 port, a full-size USB 2.0 connector, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0.

In addition to the level of functionality that pretty much can’t be found on other Android tablets right now, the Thrive also features a very nice overall design, being extremely sturdy and solid. The rubberized body makes the tablet comfortable to hold, but also reliable as heck and all in all the Toshiba Thrive is without a doubt one of the best slates released in 2011. As you might imagine, the Thrive model on sale at only comes with 16 GB of internal memory, which is not ideal, but should be enough for a regular technology enthusiast nevertheless… Oh, right, I almost forgot to tell you about this slate’s battery, capable of lasting around ten hours between charges! Now tell me you’re not interested in it!
