Nexus Prime announcement delayed as a crapload of reported leaks emerge

Google, Samsung

The past few days have been glorious for people who crave unsubstantiated leaks and rumors on gadgets. Two different blogs have released conflicting “exclusive” reports on what the Nexus Prime will look like and what specs will be present in the device, but we’ve avoided covering either because there’s no telling if either of those sites’ anonymous sources are correct. Besides, Samsung and Google are going to set the record straight on Tuesday, so there’s no need to go crazy.

Correction: Samsung and Google were going to set the record straight at their Samsung Unpacked Event at CTIA next week. According to a statement being sent out to several outlets, the two Open Handset Alliance members have decided that Tuesday isn’t the right time to show off the next great phone after all. The statement, as reported by Stuff, reads:

“Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.”

So now we’re forced to endure more days or weeks of people putting out information that’s flat-out wrong, confusing, or perhaps dead-on, until Samsung and Google can set the record straight once and for all. Hurry up and take my money, Google!

But if you haven’t tired of supposed leaks just yet, checkout what Romanian site Mobilissimo says is a video of Ice Cream Sandwich. Notice that it doesn’t gel with the previous video claiming to be ICS, so take that as a lesson that we shouldn’t consider this definite until the real thing is shown off. Whenever that is.
