Netflix finally extends support to Honeycomb tablets

Android, Android App Reviews, Tablets
Finally, Netflix has added streaming support to Android Honeycomb tablets. The new update also extends streaming capabilities to Android users in Canada and Latin America. This is great news because it will give many users the chance to enjoy the fruits of streaming movies and TV shows on those beautiful 10.1-inch screens on those Android slates.
So that means all you Netflix members can get to some real movie and TV streaming on your Acer Iconia Tab A100, Toshiba Thrive, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and more. For those of you who’ve never used Netflix on a smartphone or slate, the app allows users to browse movies and manage their queues as well as pause a selection and pick up on another device. Discussing the new update, in a blog post Netflix said:
“Today, Netflix launched a new application inthe Android Market to support Android 3.x (Honeycomb) tablets. This new app also extends Android support to Canada and Latin America for the first time. Now Netflix members in US, Canada and Latin America can enjoy Netflix on both their Android smartphones and tablets.”
I don’t understand why Netflix took so long to deliver the goods to Honeycomb tablets. Way back in July, we wrote about Honeycomber’s being able to stream Netflix unofficially. Now the official app comes three months later. If it took this long for Netflix to convert its app on 3.0, who knows how long it’ll take for it to hit 4.0. The new update is available now in the Android Market.

Who cares? Google Videos, Amazon, and Crackle have streaming movies and just about every TV show is available over web via Flash. There are others like Vudu that I havent tried. Can you download to your device? If not, it's much ado about nothing. Only people with the Ipad App player need stuff like this to make their device usable. Its a tree falling in the woods to a Android user.

I disagree. Netflix has 1000's of videos organized in one place and don't required digging through ads and bookmarks or paying a fee every time you want to watch something. There are things I could complain about, but it's so far a better option than all rivals (except Hulu+ if you're interested in recent shows).
I suppose I just don't get it. Maybe its because I rarely watch two hour movies on my tablet. I generally watch movies at home. The only time this really comes into play is on trips, and I would rather use Google Videos because I can download them to the device ahead of time. One two hour movie is a lot of data, and I would rather not spend it on that since I have to use capped cellular data. I do, however, watch a lot of TV shows while I'm out. I don't need NetFlix for that. I made bookmarks to Uverseonline, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, ComCentral, HBO and MaxGo (StrikeBack is the best series ever). Operationally, its the same as an app. Press the icon, navigate one page, and select my show. I don't need NetFlix for that. Maybe people are using it for NetFlix in home via HDMI. I guess I can see the complaint there, but the iPad doesn't even have an HDMI out which shows that people don't really care about it. You need WiFi and 2 hours of dead time outside the home. How often does that happen?

It sucks to be stationed in Germany and not be able to see anyone these because "Your IP address is outside the US"
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle make NETFLIX and GOOGLE BOOKS apps available in Middle East and Asia as well. We are not asking for these services free of cost. We are paying customers. Come on, a lot of people use android here, especially in Middle East, we have got Samsung phones, SEs and even HTCs. Even in making the Android Market available you were late and Apple had its available earlier than you. Come on do something about this issue, I don't even know of a complain forum where I could directly talk to android builders; this by the way is second most important thing you need to work on, that is making a complain cell. Even Symbian has got one. Anyways good work so far on Android, you rule in the Middle East. And I am personally promoting you in Asia. Good Luck.
Netflix offers the best streaming service and I have been waiting for their service to be available on Android.
