The Samsung Galaxy S II set to launch on T-Mobile USA will have a few differences from its brothers at other carriers. The biggest will be the lack of a Samsung Exynos processor, which has been replaced by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 1.5 GHz instead. While I’m sure you would have liked to see what Samsung can do, the 8 – 22 Mbps speeds of T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network will help dry your tears.

T-Mobile and Samsung also confirmed a few other specifications from the device. For starters, the phone is equipped with near field communications (NFC), the short-range wireless technology that enables mobile payments, unlocking doors, and other forms of data exchange. NFC is what Google has used for its Google Wallet program, and it is also the backbone of the ISIS payment system that T-Mobile has joined as a partner with AT&T and Verizon.

Both the speed and NFC capabilities are welcome additions to an already impressive phone. The Galaxy S II for T-Mobile USA has a large 4.52-inch WVGA SuperAMOLED Plus touchscreen, which should come in handy when it comes time to watch the pre-loaded Netflix, Samsung Media Hub, and T-Mobile TV applications. It will also perform well with mobile video, video chat with the front-facing camera (4G or Wi-Fi), and Samsung’s Touchwiz UI layered onto of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Expect to see the Galaxy S II in stores beginning October 12 for $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate (2 year agreement required). The phone will go on pre-sale at T-Mobile.com beginning October 10. Here’s a list of the full specs below.
