Squarespace for Android: A Beta Preview

Android Apps, Productivity

Back in 2009, I decided that it was time that I establish my place on the web. I researched for weeks, trying out different content management systems. Eventually, I settled on using to host my then-new blog, Tony’s Brain. Flash forward a couple years, and boy have I changed as a blogger.

More and more of my life is spent in the mobile space. I carry my Samsung Captivate everywhere with me now, using it to take photos, tweet, and post to networks like Google+. I use it to check my email, get direction, and even to make the occasional phone call. So when I heard that there was a possibility for me to maintain my blog from my phone, I was extremely excited.

Squarespace is currently testing an Android app in a closed beta, and I am happy to say I am one of their testers. They have been gracious enough to let me show you the app in its current beta state. I have taken a set of screenshots from my phone, and they look really nice.

This isn’t a software review, but I can tell you that all the features you could want from a mobile version of Squarespace is here. It comes packing the ability to write a post on your phone, to manage comments, and to view the statistics package that Squarespace is famous for. You even have the ability to manage more than one Squarespace blog to the app.

Squarespace already has apps for the iPhone and iPad, both of which are very well designed and maintained. As you can see from the screenshots, Squarespace for Android is on its way to being one of the most well designed Android apps to date. I am looking forward to continuing to use the beta. I cannot wait to see the final version and make it a part of my life.
