It seems like so many game developers are working hard to make the mobile gaming experience more like a traditional console experience. They try and develop more complex graphics engines, introduce more sophisticated control systems, and even write great sound tracks and hire real voice actors. However, those types of games aren’t always the best for the player.
Sometimes, all you want is a simple game that is quick and easy to play. Noogra Nuts is a game just like that. There is noting complicated about this game. It has cute and simple graphics, easy to use controls, and addictive game play. I have spent several hours playing it in the past few days, and I can see it staying on my phone for a long time.
The idea of Noogra Nuts is very simple. You control a rather adorable little squirrel who is trying to crack nuts to eat them. In order to accomplish your goal, you hit nuts falling from the sky with your head. You can bounce them in various directions, or hit more than one at a time, all in your goal to score as many points as possible.
The controls are very easy to learn. You tilt your phone to the left to move left, and to the right to move right. You can tap your screen to make the squirrel jump. From there, you simple try to hit the nuts enough time to break them open and eat the inside fruit. the more you hit, the more you score.
Overall, I really enjoy this game. I can’t exactly figure out why it is so very entertaining. I think that is has something to do with its simplicity. Something about playing a game with no real goal makes me feel refreshed about Android as a gaming platform.
Noogra Nuts is available exclusively on Android, and it is completely free. It also makes use of OpenFient, which allows you to compete against your friends for the highest head butting score. You can also share your score on Facebook. Its a joy to play, and a refreshingly simple take on mobile gaming. I give it a 4.5/5.
