When T-Mobile USA officially announced the upcoming myTouch 4G Slide, the camera was billed as the star attraction. In fact, Team Magenta went as far as to say that the myTouch 4G Slide has the “most advanced camera of any smartphone.”
A new video posted today to the T-Mobile USA YouTube account sheds further light on how great is the myTouch 4G Slide’s camera. For starters, this not your average camera phone. Aside from producing 8 megapixel photos and 1080p HD video, the myTouch 4G Slide has custom software that enables multiple shooting modes. Anyone who has used a digital camera knows that the settings for a bright day are often not the best settings used for an overcast afternoon or when there’s a great deal of action nearby. The Slide has several scenes to address that problem.
HTC also enabled the myTouch 4G Slide to be one of the fastest digital cameras masked as a phone. There’s a dedicated camera button that focuses when half pressed and then snaps photos when full-pressed. The on-screen controls also respond quickly and the “zero lag” shutter speed records an image instantly.
No one will be able to validate T-Mobile’s claims until the myTouch 4G Slide is in third-party hands and actual product shots are shared with the public. But T-Mo is definitely off to a good start with trying to appeal to shutterbugs looking for a more advanced camera in their phone. Here’s a video showcasing the camera’s strengths, as well as a first look touting the shooting modes.
