It looks like Toshiba is taking the marketing strategy for their upcoming Honeycomb tablet, the Thrive, to the internet. A YouTube “unboxing” video has come to our attention, and it is really very creative. In all fairness, I should tell you that it is a promotional video from Toshiba. You can check it out below.
So, as you saw in the video, the folks over at Toshiba are giving fans a chance to win one of their new tablets. The contest details can be accessed here. The idea is pretty simple: follow the instructions, enter the code, and see if you win. For the current “mission”, there is an opportunity to win one of 10 Thrive tablets.
In case you hadn’t heard of the Thrive before now, here is a run down of the key specifications.
- 10.1″ Multi-Touch Widescreen Display (720p)
- 1 Ghz nVidia Tegra 2 Dual-Core Processor
- 1 GB of Internal RAM
- Dual Cameras (5MP Rear, 2MP Front)
- 8, 16, or 32 GB Internal Storage
- USB, Mini-USB, and HDMI Out
- Available in 6 Colors
As you can see, the Toshiba Thrive is no slouch of a tablet. Its sporting a very powerful processor in the Tegra 2. My only complaint with its specs is one that I have with many tablets. I am waiting for the manufacturers to start putting 2GB of RAM into these things. Once that happens, I am probably on board to buy one.
The ability to win a free Thrive is really cool, and I know I will be participating. Unfortunately, I missed the earlier missons, so I don’t know how good my chances are. If buying your gadgets is more your style, then you should know that the Thrive is available to Pre-Order now. The 8Gb version will set you back $429.99, with the 16 and 32 GB versions costing $479.99 and $579.99 respectively.
