T-Mobile USA has made the myTouch 4G Slide an official members of its Android phone family. After all seeing a leaked version of the upcoming phone appear in recent weeks, T-Mobile must have figured now is a good time to let people know about the successor to the myTouch 4G, which debuted in 2010.

The obvious features to note are support for T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. However, looking beyond the obvious that can be gleamed from the device’s name, the myTouch 4G Slide has what T-Mobile claims is “the most advanced camera of any smartphone.”

The 8 megapixel camera has an illuminated sensor with wide aperture lens, instantaneous shots to shutdown shutter lag time, Sweepshot for taking panoramic images, ClearShot HDR to take contrast-heavy HDR photos, and BurstShot to take multiple photos in succession. The camera also shoots 1080p HD video.

The myTouch 4G Slide has the important new-generation specs: 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HTC Sense 3.0 with Android 2.3, a 3.7-inch WVGA SuperLCD screen, Swype, and a front-facing camera that supports Qik video chat. Pre-loaded apps including T-Mobile TV, Netflix, YouTube, and a few other T-Mobile apps.

The phone will be available in black or khaki for $199.99 beginning in July. Get more info at
