There are plenty of desktop virtualization tools out there, and PocketCloud, one of the most recognizable, just got a little better thanks to some Honeycomb treats.
PocketCloud for Android has been updated to support Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and the enhancements available in Google’s tablet OS. In addition to being redesigned to look better with the Honeycomb UI, the app also moves faster thanks to using 3.0 API’s that unlock performance boosts on devices like the Motorola Xoom.
We’ve covered PocketCloud as an app that can provide a connection to your desktop. Users can open documents, launch programs, and remotely use their computer using the software, which can come in handy at the right time. The latest version of Wyse PocketCloud has Auto Discovery that makes it easy to set-up on Windows or Mac. Launch the companion and you’ll be able to control your desktop from your tablet.
“The goal at Wyse is to thrill our customers with features and usability that make a real impact on how they live and work”, said Daniel Barreto, GM of the Wyse Mobile Cloud Business Unit. “We listened carefully to their needs and created this version of PocketCloud, making it a great combination with Android 3.0 tablets that will have even more of them leaving their laptops behind.”
Motorola Xoom owners can download PocketCloud from the Android Market for free. A PocketCloud Pro account is available for $14.99 to upgrade with 128-bit encryption. Download the free version and get a look at how things operate on the larger screen.
