South by Southwest 2011 starts Friday, and we’re seeing a flurry of social networking apps update in time for all the geeks, musicians, and film buffs descending on Austin, Texas. Event organizers have just released the official South By Southwest app for Android, SXSW Go.

SXSW Go is all about tracking the week-long activities that happen during South by Southwest, an annual festival for social media, comedy, film, and live music. It’s an excuse to drink (as if you need one) and party with the people you see online all the time. You can also attend sponsored events, listen to an uncountable amount of live music from rising or established bands, and see new films. The official app provides schedules and directions to major events, create a personal schedule, link with Facebook and Twitter, and search for exhibitors or venues to check out.

South by Southwest 2011 attendees can filter the app according to event and date. That means you can only see SXSW Interactive events if you’re interested in the music portion. Android 1.6 and higher users can find SXSW Go in the Android Market.

P.S. If you’ll be in Austin this week, check out the Team Android event from our friends over at Android And Me. It looks to be a really great party, contest, and showcase for gadgets you may not have seen. Get more info here.
