The HTC Flyer is one of the more intriguing Android tablets coming to the market. It’s different in a number of ways: it’s packing a single-core CPU (though 1.5 GHz is still snappy); it’s running Gingerbread with Sense UI, with Honeycomb coming in Q2; it has a stylus and a number of handwriting/note taking features (hence the codename Scribe); and, it will be launching with the OnLive gaming service. Some good differences and some bad compared to the Tegra 2 powered beasts we’re seeing, but the price could be the great equalizer. Unfortunately, that may not happen.

Of course, the pricing is still unofficial, but Clove Technology has posted a pre-order page for the 3G HTC Flyer priced at £500.00, which is the same price as the WiFi-only Xoom pre-order from PC World UK, and £100 less than the 3G Xoom pre-order from Carphone Warehouse. Clove Tech is clear that this is not the official pricing, and I would certainly hope that the price comes down.

The site also lists availability at “mid-April”, though no specific date is given. There also has yet to be any world on pricing or release for the US.
