South-Korean LG obviously believes in 3D and wants to be one of the companies that pioneer the technology. The Optimus Pad was announced today, and we already knew about the LG Optimus 3D – another 3D capable device.
In this video, we first get to see the LG Optimus 3D’s standard Android user-interface, and then we’re shown the UI that takes advantage of the 3D technology. Of course, the 3D effect gets lost in translation and we can’t see it without looking at the actual device, but we still get a pretty good idea of what the interface is like.
If I’m not mistaken, there’s a hardware button on the handset that will activate the 3D effect. When seeing the 3D UI, the reporter in the video says “it’s glorious” with awe in his voice. The novelty might wear off after awhile, but I think having glasses-free 3D on your phone or tablet definitely will be a very pleasant and unusual experience — at least initially.
What’s your opinion about 3D displays? For or against them?
