If you’re going to put a 3D screen on a smartphone, it’s good to have something to take advantage of it. Now, aside from viewing the 3D video that you shoot on your G-Slate or Optimus 3D, you’ll also be able to play some 3D games on your LG Optimus 3D.
Gameloft won’t be releasing 3D capable versions of N.O.V.A., Asphalt 6 and Let’s Golf 2 specifically for the LG Optimus 3D, they are going to come baked-in on the phone for free, so there goes a chunk of your 8 GB of on-board memory. The games will all feature software sliders to control the intensity of the 3D effect, similar to the hardware slider on the Nintendo 3DS. The trouble is that the way the 3D screen works, it relies on static positioning of the screen and the user. N.O.V.A. and Asphalt 6 both use the accelerometer to control movement on screen, so there’s no word on how well that will all play out. Let’s Golf 2 should be perfectly fine though.
No word on if any other games will be making the 3D jump at a later date.
