The next time someone complains about a dropped call, tell him or her that things could be worse. Just ask Aron Embry, who claims that his Droid 2 exploded while he was on the phone, causing damage to his ear and leading to cuts deep enough to warrant stitches.
Embry appeared on a Dallas news station and said that as he entered his car during a phone conversation, his recently-purchased Motorola Droid 2 exploded. The phone was shown with a cracked screen and what appear to be the blood stains caused by Embry’s injuries. It’s unclear exactly what caused the “explosion,” as Embry said he heard a pop and felt blood dripping down his neck. Motorola told Dallas Fox News that it would reach out to him to investigate the claims.
This is a bizarre case unlike any I’ve seen before. A local cell phone repairman expressed a similar opinion, so there must have been some freak occurrence in the way Embry handled the phone in his environment to cause this problem. The video of story is available below, courtesy of Switched.com.
