Inception Mobile Architect blends photos with Google Maps satellite

Inception was one of my favorite – and most watched – movies of 2010, especially for it’s cool dream-within-a-dream features. And if you enjoyed the scene in which Cobb explained to the Architect how to bend worlds, you’ll get a kick out of the Inception Mobile Architect application.

As you saw in the Inception movie poster and trailer, it’s possible to “fold” a city street. The Mobile Architect app attempts to do the same by merging a Google Maps satellite image with a street-level photo taken by a user (the right satellite image is determined by GPS and compass). You will not get images as smooth and crisp as what’s seen on film, but you will get a cool effect for your photos.

There takes some time angling your phone the right way, but you will get to share images, save, and see their image pop-up in the movie effect. You also might want to take the photo outdoors because it’s worthless when trying to merge with an indoor image. Results may vary.
