Spider-man: Total Mayhem

Need for Speed: Shift

On multiple occasions, I’ve expressed a wish for big game companies such as EA and id Software to start releasing games for Android. Luckily, it seems like both wishes will be granted, since a port of id’s RAGE possibly is in the works, and now Electronic Arts has made two of its popular games available on Android: Need for Speed and The Sims 3.

Need for Speed: Shift is a 3D racing game, and if you’ve ever played another game in the illustrious Need for Speed (NFS) series, you’ll know what it’s about. The game is available in the Market for $4.99.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the best-selling PC game in history, The Sims, needs no introduction. The Sims 3 was released on iOS over a year ago, and the life-simulation game has now found its way to Android.

For $4.99, you can play house (and God); choose your Sim’s clothing and accessories, alter their personalities, and watch them evolve.

It’s easy to disapprove of Gameloft’s puzzling refusal to add its games to the Android Market, but as a game developer the company is impossible to dismiss. Yes, Gameloft’s own store officially sucks, but I think some of the games so far definitely are worth the hassle.

Spider-man: Total Mayhem is available for $4.99, and it lets you fight famous Spider-man adversaries such as the Green Goblin and Venom, in three dimensions. For now, it looks like the only way to purchase the game is by visiting on your Android.
