Google is upgrading their marketing with the release of the Nexus S. With the Nexus One, Google had giant mockups made and put up around the Mountain View campus, but they were basically just plastic. This time, Google has put up a fully functioning Nexus S in a Best Buy in San Carlos. It’s not just an HDTV with the Nexus S ported in, this is a full 42″ touchscreen, a working camera, and Internet connectivity.
The touch sensitivity looks a bit dodgy, especially when trying to use Maps, but overall it’s pretty impressive to see Gingerbread scaled to that size. I can’t help but wonder if this will make people push Google for more apps in Google TV. I wish I lived near San Carlos. If any readers live in the San Francisco area, San Carlos looks to be about 20 miles south. Send us a hands-on report if you can!
