The developer of Homerun Battle and Heavy Gunner, Com2uS, has ported another one of its popular iOS games to Android. It’s completely free, called Slice It! and is currently only available via GetJar.
Slice It! is a puzzle game, and you basically get to cut different figures into the same ratio. For example, on the first level you’re simply asked to slice a square in half, and the tasks get harder and more complex as the game progresses.
I played Splice It! for a couple of minutes and it seemed promising with nice animations, cute graphics and hand-drawn menus. The gameplay could indeed prove to be captivating. However, I wasn’t able to install the game directly from my phone via m.getjar.com, and I hear other people are having the same problem as well. At the time of writing, it looks like you have to download the .apk to your computer, copy it to your SD card and install it manually with your favorite Android file manager.
Head to GetJar.com if you want to give Slice It! a try yourself.

Downloaded to computer, ran adb install sliceit.apk and done. Took 30 seconds. BOOHOO.
How come a game wants to know my location, access to my SD card, phone calls, wifi state and running applications? Please you that have developed this, fix your permissions and maybe I will consider to install this. Cause I can't figure why you want to read my phone calls, if this a legite app that is…
@peppelorum Actually the SD card and phone calls permissions always show up when you try to install a .apk as opposed to going through Android Market. Not sure why this is, but theres nothing the developer can do except put the app on the Market.
@ @peppelorum – I can’t agree more. It makes me even more weary when the app asks for all those permissions AS WELL AS it not being distributed through Android’s Market. Too many red flags for me. As an Android dev myself, I know each permission the app asks for has to be explicitly defined by the programmer, meaning they specifically put the requests for those permissions in the app and that it wasn’t a simple oversight. I think I’ll pass.
Just tried to download it with my milestone both by going to getjar.com/slice-it and by using the quick download link thing and it keeps saying it's not compatible with my phone. What?!?!
Slice Slice has been around for ages and has the same level layout, just a different 'theme' as it were. Not sure who develops it, but the levels are like for like.
Wouldn't the reason for the permissions be for the ads used? Just a guess. Some Ad companies want to know your location so they can provide appropriate ad content to you in your location.
