A new application from DISH Network that promises to bring “TV everywhere” has popped up in the Android Market. The DISH Remote Access app streams practically anything available on your home network, including episodes stored in DVR, local news, and live sports. You’ll never miss a moment if you have a compatible device.
Remote Access also acts as a DVR manager, allowing subscribers to schedule recordings directly from their device. They can also adjust recording settings, search the program guide, or use a cell phone as a remote. It should also be compatible with new tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
There are a few caveats to using DISH Remote Access, the most obvious being a DISH subscriber. There’s also a requirement that subscribers have a ViP 922 DVR, ViP 722, or ViP722k with Sling Adapter accessory. The app works on most Android versions and is available for free in the Android Market.
