Viper SmartStart remotely starting cars for less, adds roadside assistance

Viper SmartStart is an automotive accessory that can remotely control your car. Using an Android app and a piece of hardware, users can start their car from inside the house, open the trunk, lock the doors, or activate an alarm system.
If you’re intrigued by those features, you’ll also be happy to know that Viper has dropped the price down to only $199 for the self-installed system of Viper Smart Start 2.0. “We optimized the design and engineered costs out to put Viper SmartStart within reach of as many customers as possible,” said Mike Simmons, executive VP of Directed Electronics.
Customers can also take advantage of Viper Motor Club, which offers free roadside assistance via the SmartStart app. Users will be able to get help dealing with dead batteries, stalled cars, and keys locked inside through the service.

This is actually a REDICULOUS price for an android application. You have to buy the remote starter to begin with and that costs a minimum of $250 and that's for very basic one way model with no way of knowing if the car started without hearing the car itself. It's $350 for a model with decent features (and that's not installed). Then it costs another $200 just to keep from having to carry the key ring remote (also not installed). Makes no sense at all.
umm try reading a little, the app is free. and the hardware to put in the car is $199 (though thats the basic one) so in all this will cost you ……. $199 just as the article says. seriously if you don't know what your talking about don't talk
shane, you should try reading yourself! go to the viper website, you will find out that the $199 price is for the module which is an add-on to an existing viper remote start. If you don't have a compatible viper system already installed, the price jumps to $399. Oh yeah, there is also a $49 yearly service fee required for the life of the product. Seriously, if you don't know what you're talking about, then don't talk.
I can't belive there would be that many lazy people to cough up that much for this!!!
For some people it's not about laziness. Try living in an area that for three months out of the year its 10 degree F or colder and your office being a five to ten minute walk away from your parking area. By the time you get to your car, you spend another ten minutes just sitting there waiting for the car to be warm enough to defrost the windows, complete turns well, etc. Plus, when at home, not all of us live in a neighborhood that's safe to just run to our car and lock the key in the ignition to warm our cars up. Not wanting to spend 20-30 in the extreme cold is healthy, not lazy.
i’m trying to find out what the fee is to use the app..i’m confused.. we pay $$$$ to have it put in then pay a fee to use it.. does anyone know that the fee’s are?
