The Empire Strikes Back app that was promised to accompany the Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 edition is now available for free in the Market for select Verizon customers. The application celebrates the 30th anniversary of Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, and the release will hopefully manage to make a few Star Wars fans pumped up.
Star Wars Empire Strikes Back can be downloaded from the Market’s Verizon section, but to unlock all its content you have to pay $2.99 that will be charged to your Verizon Wireless bill. The full application has four sections based on scenes from the movie, and it includes a live wallpaper, movie clips, a photo gallery, widgets and a soundboard. There is also a Star Wars news feed, a trivia challenge and a Bounty Hunter scavenger hunt.
