Who would have thought that one of the most addicting mobile games to ever hit the Android platform would get over 2 million downloads since its release on Friday? It’s easy to understand why so many folks downloaded the new Angry Birds full version; it’s excellent and it’s completely free.

According to a post from Rovio, Angry Birds has been downloaded around 2 million times. There is no mention if they are counting Market downloads only, or combined GetJar and Market downloads, but we can imagine that there are even more downloads because of the download mirrors that were put up to combat the unavailability of the app.

Angry Birds for Android launched on Friday of last week on the Android Market, but first on the third party application market, GetJar. The app was released for free and created a flurry of downloaders not being able to get the app as GetJar’s servers couldn’t handle the traffic. In fact GetJar was down most of the morning on Friday with some people uploading the Angry Birds install file to other mirrors so consumers could get their hands on it. Later in the afternoon the app finally came to the Market.

It’s debateable if Rovio made the correct decision releasing the app first on GetJar and then later on the Android Market, but according to these numbers, Angry Birds is having little trouble getting folks to download it and waste away their days playing it.
