T-Mobile G2 will have stock Froyo and 800 MHz processor

The T-Mobile G2 has been believed to run a new Qualcomm processor that supports 1 GHz speeds, but the device will actually top out at 800 MHz based on specs revealed by T-Mobile. On its Scoop page, T-Mobile lists a few features about the G2 that confirm the device is actually running at 800 MHz. Having a lower threshold will help extend battery life, but it will also give the G2 one-fifth less processing power as phones that have been on the market since January. That may push some power users to look elsewhere.
T-Mobile also confirmed that the G2 will run a stock version of Android 2.2. Back when it was still codenamed as the Vision, the G2 was seen running HTC Sense, but a leaked version of the ROM showed vanilla Android and leaked press shots had no signs of Sense. T-Mobile is now officially using the press shots that show what will be the first plain-Jane Android in quite some time.
Also worth noting is that the G2 tops out at 14.4 Mbps. We previously reported that the phone could take full advantage of T-Mobile’s 21 Mbps theoretical HSPA+ speeds, but the carrier has confirmed that this device peaks at 14.4 Mbps.

Oh Andrew, you are better than this. Just because it is clocked in at 800 mhz, it will outperform the 1 Ghz processors of today. It is built on a 45nm (Snapdragon is 60nm which is inferior, nerdom 101 for you) and has a graphics processor that is 4x better. It does not have 1/5 less power. Man the ignorance by people reporting this is blinding. The scorpion processor is also fully capable of 1 Ghz and should be an easy fix for those that will root their phone. For those that are still struggling is like going from an first-gen Atom processor with Intel Integrated graphics to an third-gen Atom processor with Nvidia Ion graphics card. Your going to get much better performance even though its clock at a lower speed.
I totally agree this is a nice phone, people need to get of the mhz myth, this is a new gen cpu and gpu.
I cant wait to see how ppl react when the speed and graphics on this phone outperforms most of all the phones that r out right now.
But what is the battery life? It sux on my G1…
