Uh oh: even though Sony Ericsson announced back in June that its X10-series would receive an upgrade to Android 2.1 in September, and later also confirmed the update schedule on its UK Twitter account, the company now says that X10 devices won’t get Éclair until late October.
It’s of course better to postpone the update a couple of weeks to make sure it’s flawless than to release a half-baked ROM, but I’m personally slightly annoyed by SE’s failure to keep Android up-to-date on its handsets – and I don’t even own a X10 device. The X10 was first released running Android 1.6 in March this year, and if it will take Sony Ericsson seven months to have an Android 2.1 update ready, will the Froyo update be equally delayed? If so, the X10-series seems destined to always be at least one step behind.
