The car dock mode on Android is a reliable way to access your phone in a safer capacity. However, the default car dock application is rather limited. What if you need to place a call with one-touch or launch your media player without being distracted by the regular mode? That’s where Custom Car Home comes in.
Custom Car Home offers a more personalized experience for car dock. The app expands on the feature set and allows for three home screens with six customizable shortcuts rather than the default screen that has only predetermined shortcuts. So if you need a shortcut to the doubleTwist application or a direct dial link to your friend, the option is available.
Users can auto-enable speakerphone and Bluetooth mode, which makes for a more powerful but less distracting phone-while-driving experience. The app is available for free in the Android Market but also includes a donate version for $1. As an added bonus, create a Tasker or Locale profile that applies other car-friendly settings when the app launches (AutoBrightness, GPS, etc.).

Cool, will have to try this app out!
Overall I like it, though it needs some polish. It doesn't always exit gracefully, sometimes not reverting its settings overrides (like screen brightness), and sometimes takes out my lock screen (Widget Locker) on its way. The enlarged icons are a compromise, stretching doesn't look very good though I understand the challenge. I thought most apps had a high res icon available, perhaps he's not using them yet. Alternatively perhaps if they were inset at normal size into a larger button…
