Motorola has thrilled some and chilled others with the recent changes made to its update schedule. Motorola Droid X owners were happy to hear that they would have Android 2.2 by the end of the summer, which is a very short window, and Milestone users in Europe were disappointed to learn that their promised update won’t come until the end of the year.
Motorola recently updated its support forum page that shares plans for firmware upgrades. On it, the company confirmed that the Milestone rollout will begin in Q4, but showed that upgrade plans are still “under evaluation” for Milestone users in Canada. The same goes for Canadians with Backflip, DEXT, and Quench phones waiting on Android 2.1.
Don’t be too disappointed Canadians; you’re still better off than Europeans and Latin Americans who won’t even get an Eclair update for their Backflip or DEXT devices. The same goes for the Motorola Devour, which is stuck on its Android 1.6 island.
