VouchAR brings live store discounts to Augmented Reality

August 11, 2010 | by Andrew Kameka

Walking down the street with no clue about which boutique to browse or which restaurant to step in for a quick bite? Maybe you ought to fire up VouchAR and discover which establishment will save you a few quid.

VouchAR uses a person’s location to plot deals available in their immediate area (United Kingdom only, other locales will follow). As users open up the app, they see an augmented view through the camera viewfinder that shows which bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses offer discounts. The app works by pulling in discounts from several deals sources and gives users a view of which business offer price breaks or incentives to shop/eat/drink/stay there.,, and are among the many sources that VouchAR uses to find deals. The app is available for free in the Android Market. You must be in the United Kingdom to use it, but the company plans to add support for the United States and more European countries.
