Let’s try this again. It’s been a long wait with some bumps and bruises along the way, but Vodafone says it’s finally going to have the Android 2.2 update for HTC Desire users next week. Beginning Monday, the 23rd of August, Desire users on the Vodafone UK network will begin receiving the over-the-air update for Froyo.

This may be the first time some of you have received a firmware upgrade, so here’s how it works:

  1. You’ll get a notification saying the phone is ready to update
  2. You’ll accept and let the update take place (make sure you phone is fully charged before applying the update)
  3. You’ll have Froyo

Not everyone will receive the update on Monday since it will be delivered in batches over the next two weeks. Please remember that this update will also make it possible to remove some of the Vodafone 360 material that users complained about previously. Head over to the Vodafone forums to see how they describe the process.
