Those of you still running Google Gestures as a way to quickly search through your phone’s contacts will be happy to know that the app recently got a new shortcut. In Gesture Search 1.2, the app can be opened at any time by performing a “double flip,” by which the user turns the phone around so the screen faces away, then flips it back so the screen once again faces the user.
Google announced the change today and points out that there are ways to change settings, which will prevent accidentally opening Gestures through normal everyday use. The feature is optional, so you can bypass it altogether if you just want the classic and perfectly fine method of opening apps through the launcher or home screen.
Gesture Search 1.2 is available now for phones running Android 1.6 or higher. It also addresses some unnamed bugs and stability issues that affected previous versions.
