Sony Ericsson UK has confirmed on its Twitter account that the Xperia X10 will receive the much-awaited (and long overdue) update from Android 1.6 to 2.1 sometime in September. SE has previously promised that the upgrade will arrive in Q3 2010, and is consequently true to its word.
Sony Ericsson is holding firm on the update schedule. SE has yet to offer a specific date, but promises to update the following devices next month: Xperia X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro, and with a bit of luck also the upcoming Xperia X8. As we mentioned back in June, the update for the Xperia X10 is said to also bring goodies such as HD video recording.
The big brother of the X10-series will supposedly also get a second update later this fall, which will offer the ability to “connect and display wirelessly content on your television and enhance the Timescape and Mediascape applications.” Hopefully the X10 phones will make the jump all the way to Froyo as well before the year is over.
