Social networking sites are the rage with the young folks with their hippin’ and their hoppin’ these days. It can be tough to keep up when one segment of your friends favor Facebook while another have moved along to Twitter. Some of you may even have folks still on MySpace or be photo buffs who love browsing Flickr.
T-Mobile has decided to integrate all of those services into one app as a way to keep you abreast of life’s fast pace of information and movements. Social Buzz brings all of your social media feeds into one place, acting as an aggregator for the most basic of functions. Buzz doesn’t offer the comprehensive experience that you’ll get in dedicated Twitter or Facebook apps, but if you just want to make a quick scan of what’s happening now, it may be useful.
Though this is a T-Mobile branded app and requires installing extra software from the Market, you do not have to be a T-Mobile customer to use the app (I tested on a Sprint EVO). The app can read or post updates to multiple networks at once, or filter according to network. Social Buzz can also attach files, provide update notifications, and remove a network from the stream at any time.
Social Buzz doesn’t pick up all of your stream data, and is far from a groundbreaking app. But it’s a simple option for people who don’t need a fancy social networking experience.
