New York City maintains one of the busiests mass transit systems in the world, and there’s now an Android app for predicting when the next subway train is on its way.
Next Train NYC uses your phone’s location to determine the nearest train station. It then compares that information to average stop-time data collected over the past 30 days to predict the approximate time that your train will enter the station. That way you can spend less time underground waiting on the train to come and more time above ground doing what you want.
DLP Mobile, developer of Next Train NYC, says that the app is compatible with all versions of Android and even works offline so information will be accessible underground. DLP also promises to deliver similar apps for other transit systems in major cities.
Next Train NYC is available for $1.99 in the Android Market.
