CyanogenMod-6.0, a popular community-built distribution of Android 2.2, has its official version out today for download. If your Android device is rooted and there is a final build available you can install the newest CyanogenMod right now. If you have been using CyanogenMod RC3 for a while now and you want some of those little bugs fixed, this will be the version for you.
According to the blog post you can obtain the newest ROM from ROM Manager (an app that allows rooted devices to download, install, and backup software and systems on Android), or from the CyanogenMod forums. In a quick check in ROM Manager on the Incredible and the CyanogenMod forums it doesn’t look like that the official release of CM6 is available. However, the EVO and DROID 1 seem to have gotten the CM6 love. I’m sure after a little while longer we will see all of the other devices supported. Until then you will have to stick with your RC 3, which really isn’t that bad to begin with.
I know a lot of people that have been waiting for CM6 (myself included) and it looks like it will trickling out to all devices soon enough. So, commentors, anyone using CM6 and if so what are you impressions?
