The original Droid has reached its end of life on Verizon now that the Droid 2 has arrived, but Cellular South has that old-time feel for users wanting the same form factor.
Today Cellular South announced the availability of the Motorola Milestone, the European and Canadian branding of the Motorola Droid. The Milestone is practically the same phone under a new name (and a few differences). It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.7 inch screen, CrystalTalk Plus to filter out background noise, 5 megapixel camera, and Android 2.1 (no word on when it will get Froyo).
Head over to your local Cellular South and the Droid will be available for $149.99 after mail-in rebate.
It’s good to see regional carriers get some of the better Android phones, but I’m still surprised that Cellular South opted for a phone that’s already being phased out on another carrier. We’ll soon see if this was a test of patience or a product that arrived too late.
