Anyone who has been following the DROID Incredible rooting saga knows that it has been a long road (especially, yours truly) and today is the much anticipated end. Today, the unrevoked (or, unrEVOked) team released their recovery/reflash and ROOT tool known as unrevoked3 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This makes the process of rooting and and installing a custom recovery tool extremely easy.

The process of rooting the DROID Incredible before this tool was painful. Really painful. I own a DROID Incredible that I have rooted now for about a month now and it took me a good week or two of watching videos and trying for countless hours to get the damn thing rooted. I nearly gave up until my obsessive reading on the XDA developer forum brought up something I had yet to try. That time I hit success buy doing some serious USB cord work, screen watching, and command looping, but not without some blood, sweat, and tears. It’s nice to know that if for some reason I “lose” root I have this option for the future. And of course all of the Incredible lovers out there how haven’t been able to achieve this great feat of rooting now have their chance.

Using unrevoked3 could seriously not be much easier. You make sure your phone is in debug mode (Settings –> Applications –>Development –> click USB debugging), start up unrevoked3, plug the phone in via USB and let the application do it’s work. It’s smooth, and these devs should be commended for their hard work.

Also to remind you as you do obtain root this tools cannot give you full write access to the ROM. That is still a nut that has yet been cracked. Regardless these guys deserve a round of applause and/or drinks.

Thanks, unrevoked Team for helping Incredible users out!
