AT&T, Samsung

Quick update on the Samsung Captivate: you won’t have to wait much longer to get your hands on AT&T’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S. Samsung USA confirmed via Twitter that the Captivate will go on sale July 18th, one week from Sunday, in AT&T stores. The phone will cost $199 on a two-year agreement with required voice plan and a data plan of at least $15 per month.

As a refresher, the Captivate is part of Samsung’s stable of Galaxy S phones that will arrive on all major U.S. carriers this year. It comes with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, is great on graphics, and features Samsung’s Hub for aggregated news, status updates, and more. The T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S is rumored to arrive early in anticipation of competition from the Droid X, so maybe that’s what AT&T/Samsung finally let the lid off and let people know when they’ll be able to purchase the Captivate.

Will you be in line for one despite AT&T’s rocky relationship with Android? For more information on the Captivate, see our announcement post.
