LG has kept saying that it would release several Android devices in 2010, but the company has been a little quiet on unleashing the storm we expected. Today, LG has announced the Optimus series of Android devices will range from “entry level to premium” phones as well as “Android Tablet PC’s.”
The Optimus is a branding line of devices LG hopes to release this year (you may have already seen the first in the series, the Swift). LG added two new phones to the stable today: the LG Optimus One and Optimus Chic, both of which will debut with Android 2.2. The Optimus Chic “Caters to fashion aficionados” (wtf?) and is meant for people attracted by design rather than beastly specs. That’s about all we know at the moment since LG is being tight-lipped with the stats.
The announcement also reiterated that LG plans to release an Android-based tablet at some point this year, though at this point, I’m over the whole “yeah, we’re coming with one, too” stance that companies keep taking. Wake me up when you’ve got something to show, LG.
