Best Buy says use your phone after watching Despicable Me tonight

I managed to escape the task of taking my nephews to watch Despicable Me tonight, but I know plenty of people will be at movie theatres watching the new animated film. Those of you are taking the kids, or yourself, to watch should be aware of Best Buy’s special Android app for the movie.

Despicable Me is a 3D animated movie about a diabolical fiend who meets three little girls who change his life. He also has some tiny yellow minions who speak in an indecipherable chirping language, and that’s where Best Buy comes in.

The Best Buy Movie Mode app is a “film enhancing experience” (*cue eye rolls) that translates the Minions’ chatter into actual words that you can understand. Don’t worry, though, you won’t have obnoxious people using their phones during the film and getting on your nerves. Movie Mode automatically sends the phone into silent mode and works only during the end credits of the 3D version. The app will come in handy later when the entire film becomes translatable when watching the DVD.

Download the app by visiting from your phone.
