Android 2.2 coming to Verizon Motorola DROID next week

Motorola, Verizon
Well it’s Friday and it’s time to party as well announce that your beloved Motorola DROID will join the likes of the EVO and Desire and get that Froyo update. PCMag is reporting that Verizon has officially announced that the Moto DROID will receive Android 2.2 Froyo starting next week.
Of course the update will be bringing some extra functionality to Android including faster performance, Apps2SD, App Sharing, voice dialing over Bluetooth, and even some Microsoft Exchange updates for all you corporate buffs. And of course there is the oh-so controversial of Adobe’s Flash being “supported” by Android 2.2, but not actually available in the update.
It looks like all of the Android “superphones” are going to have Froyo after all and I have to admit that it is exciting. I feared that Android 2.2 was going to take until the fall or even winter for nit-picky carriers to approve it and hand out the OTAs. Something that is still perplexing about the speed of 2.2 coming to the DROID is that it is only a “stock” ROM with little customization added. It does seem that the Moto DROID update should have been sooner, but Verizon is known for releasing updates later than expected.
Regardless, Moto DROID owners across the country are getting their Froyo treat. And with that statement I am done with Froyo references. DROID users let us know when you get your update!

Yeah, I will believe it when I see it. The last few times we heard we were getting an update for Droid, it was rolled back for weeks, then weeks again, and again and again… Then when we finally get it, there are still some really nasty performance bugs (like the 1/2 speed 2D performance flaw).
Notion Ink Adam tablet will come with Froyo, probably before any other tablet. http://nextparadigms.com/notion-ink-adam-tablet-w…
Do you know if the Droid Eris will get the 2.2 update too?
No neither Eris nor Devour get 2.2, may I suggest waiting for your upgrade and getting the Droid 2 or Iphone 4 when they come out.
The new iPhones suuuuuuuk! My girlfriend wasted her money on that piece and my Droid tears it a new one ever
I just got mine this morning, and frankly I think it was overhyped. I don't see many major changes, and haven't noticed any speed-ups. Is there a list somewhere detailing the changes?
Does the update automatically download or do you have to do something special?
I still haven't received the update…
Motorola Suck! Flagship device the Milestone (the phone without compromise*) was promised 2.2 update. This is limited depending on where you are in the world. Any south american readers – sorry you won;t be getting it. Dext – promised 2.1 update in the EU, which then went to 'pending' and then 'you won't be getting it' I would seriously consider before buying any Moto product as they consistently break or fail to live up their promises. I for one will NEVER buy another moto product *without compromise may be withdrawn at any time without notification
