Android Phones, Carriers

US Cellular has been pretty forthcoming on their release plans as of late, after all they have been dropping hints and also making more than a few posts on their Facebook page. And now it seems they have gone the press release route, but given some detail nonetheless.

In short, US Cellular will be releasing four Android smartphones in 2010.

Diving further in and we learn that they will be offering the Samsung Acclaim and HTC Desire as well as another Samsung and LG. Except they have not yet released names on those latter two as of yet.

Of course, some of these were already known such as the Samsung Acclaim. In this case they further confirmed that the handset would be released on July 9th and mentioned a few specs such as the 3.2 inch display, 3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and QWERTY keyboard.

Next mention was the HTC Desire, another phone we knew about — however we can now say that its officially coming in early-August. Sadly nothing specific in terms of a date, but at least its a time frame coming direct from the source as opposed to rumor.

Like I said, those two were already known as coming, but in addition there are two more — the LG and what is described as a “highly-anticipated Samsung device.” Nothing further was given on that Samsung model, however the LG is noted as having a large touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Oh, and both are noted as coming available in October.

Finally, US Cellular even has a few Android apps which include My Contacts Backup, City ID, Tone Room Deluxe and Your Navigator Deluxe.
